We organized Defend Marriage for a single critical purpose: to help pass a constitutional amendment to protect and
defend marriage in the United States as the union of a man and a woman cialis online. We have posted a variety of background and resource materials on this site
explaining the particular threat to marriage and the family posed by the aggressive effort to legalize same sex
marriage.
The basic problem is easily explained, however .
Strong families have always been the essential foundation of every successful society . And for millennia, traditional marriage, defined as the union
of a man and a woman, has been essential to the creation and protection of strong families. Legalizing same sex marriage would change forever the
role that marriage plays in our society, undermining it and the family.
Yet, even though a solid majority of Americans oppose same sex marriage, unless we do something activist judges will certainly impose same sex
marriage on us. The only certain way to prevent this from happening is to amend the Constitution to define once and for all that marriage in the
United States is the union of a man and a woman.
Amending our Constitution is not easy. But it is something we must do if we are to protect these institutions that are so critical to our future.
To be successful, millions of Americans like you who care about that future must take action.

Whereas, strong families have been the
foundation of all successful societies throughout history; and
Whereas, marriage between a man and a woman has always been essential to protect and promote strong families; and
Whereas, expanding the definition of marriage to include same-sex partners would inevitably undermine the institution of
marriage and thereby weaken the family;
Now, therefore, as a citizen of the United States of America, I urge Congress to defend marriage by passing a constitutional
amendment to limit marriage to the union of a man and a woman.
